March 2021 Newsletter - CELI Stands In Solidarity with the Asian Community
Dear CELI Community,
Over the last few weeks, it has been incredible to be a part of the magic that happens when the CELI community gets things done - getting the word out about our 2021 Fellowship and the Edict Summer Internship Program and volunteering countless hours on nights and weekends to read through the hundreds of applications. This dedication is a testament to the collective power that CELI is able to harness to realize the world that we want to live in.
And, we still have so far to go. In the last two weeks, we have witnessed horrific mass shootings, first in Atlanta and then in Boulder. Let’s take a moment of silence to recognize the pain, the grief and the fear that the victims’ loved ones, families, friends and communities are experiencing; and then let’s get louder.
The murders on March 16th that took the lives of Soon Chung Park, Suncha Kim, Yong Ae Yue, Hyun Jung Grant, Xiaojie Tan, Delaina Yaun, Daoyou Feng, and Paul Andre Michels were clear acts of racism, as well as violence directed towards women and immigrants. CELI stands as an ally with Asian American communities in our continued fight to dismantle white supremacy, protect women from harm, and uphold the dignity and humanity of all people regardless of citizenship status. For individuals who would like some initial resources for healing or taking additional action, here is a short list that is national in scope:
For CELI, building the energy systems that we envision is also about coming together to take collective action towards our values.
As we continue to reflect on what last year brought, we’re excited to share highlights with you from our 2020 Annual Report. And although we can’t meet up in person yet, we are still hard at work to make sure that we all can connect virtually!
